A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Robin White has conducted

open-air pop-classics concerts, with professional orchestras and

soloists, in venues such as Knebworth, Luton Hoo, West Wycombe Park

and the Castle Park, Colchester.

His show credits as MD include My Fair Lady and Gigi at Wimbledon Theatre,

The Music Man and Carousel at the Gordon Craig and Mikado and

Jack the Ripper at Watford Palace.

He is a competent keyboard player, and depending on the scale of the

production and the musical idiom, may choose to direct from the keyboard

with a small band, though he is equally at home conducting a large

orchestra and chorus.

He is in touch with the best musicians in the area, and always gives

excellent value for money with the bands he provides.

He is able to arrange and adapt scores, within copyright limitations, to

create accompaniments tailor-made to the requirements of the cast and the

production. His orchestrations of Viennese and other light music have been

broadcast on Radio 2 & BBC TV and recorded on Chandos and ASV labels.

He always takes a hands-on approach to the shows he directs, and where

possible will accompany all dance and movement rehearsals, thereby

keeping abreast of any changes that the director may wish to make. He

has always had harmonious relationships with directors, and is amenable

to requests whilst safeguarding the quality of the music.

“The configuration of the band was good: very dance-band at times, and

military band at others. I commend Robin White, and also for the musicality he encouraged the cast to bring to their numbers.”
